Acuario Cosmico’s New Single Is A ‘Thank You’ to Love, But With a 60s Twist

Ever wonder if your musical tastes are shaped before you’re even born? For Gonzalo Marnucci, frontman of Acuario Cosmico, the answer is a resounding yes. His love for music blossomed in utero, where his mum’s record collection, featuring legends like Creedence Clearwater Revival and Henry Mancini, made their mark.

Fast forward a few decades, and this early exposure seems to have laid the groundwork for Acuario Cosmico’s unique sound, offering a vibrant blend of indie-pop, surf-rock, and a distinct 60s swagger. Hailing from the buzzing underground scene of Buenos Aires and now making waves in Berlin, the three-piece, comprising Gonzalo “Gong” Marnucci, Michael “Mörk” Merkt, and Jonathan “Jo” Boudevin have been captivating audiences for well over a decade.

Their latest offering, the sweetly titled ‘Thank You’, is a shimmering precursor to their eagerly anticipated new album, due to drop on 21st June 2025. Following earlier singles ‘Egyptian Romance’ and ’61 Days’, ‘Thank You’ arrives as a vibrant illustration of the band’s sound, fusing vintage power-pop with contemporary surf-rock. It’s a bold, brilliant mix of crashing drums and a potent bassline, all wrapped up in waves of soaring guitar riffs.

Speaking openly about the single, Gonzalo shared, "This song is a thankful way to welcome love. The whole album is a resilient concept of learning in relationships, mutual respect, loving care and emotional responsibility. It has quotes of the lockdown and the cultural differences when you are an expat, but the emphasis is about falling in love. Masks down and keep on going in a 60s feel with a contemporaneous anecdote - the connection this time was because I forgot my lighter in her car, and that started it on…”

Sincere and wonderfully reflective, ‘Thank You’ feels like a beacon of light, embracing the wonder and potential of new beginnings. For those yet to discover Acuario Cosmico, this track is the perfect introduction to a highly recommended trio who are clearly just getting started.
