Delhi-based indie-prog outfit Faithful Tragedy is set to unveil a surprising new direction with their forthcoming single, 'Universe Is Finite; You Are Mine', slated for release on 10th May 2025. This track sees the project, primarily helmed by Anubhav Basaou, venture into the realm of space-infused romantic post-rock, a notable shift from their usual dark, industrial soundscapes inspired by the 2000s rock scene and 70s psychedelic philosophy.
Speaking candidly about the new single, Anubhav Basaou gave us a glimpse of what we can expect, sharing, “This new release named ‘Universe Is Finite; You Are Mine’ is quite a surprise to [our] audience because it's in post-rock which is commonly explored as pallet in my work, but this time it all about space and romance which is quite unheard of in my catalogue so far…”
He continued, “This song is Love, as a meaning of life, and that takes my life back to being me and picking up art with that prospect to begin with... I think I wanted to preach that message at the time when I was making this art.”
Fittingly described as a hybrid of Pink Floyd and God Is An Astronaut, the new single is a hotly anticipated release that is already gaining traction online. Built on an ethereal quality that is both personal and expansive, ‘Universe Is Finite; You Are Mine’ is filled with slow-burning post-rock instrumentation and seamless layering that helps craft a cosmic experience.
Faithful Tragedy, originating from the Delhi suburbs, is known for a poetic blend of lyrics, soundscapes, and visual elements that together forge a psychedelic atmosphere. This approach harmoniously reflects themes from modern cinema, literature, psychology, and philosophy through captivating music designed to encourage introspection and spark outward curiosity.
Having been active for around four years and releasing music through labels like Bedroomrecods09 (UK) and Mojear Records (Germany), Faithful Tragedy has built a catalogue including four singles and a compiled EP, with another EP on the horizon.
