London's own acclaimed singer-songwriter, Ivor Game, is back with a brand new EP, 'When Will You Fall Into My Loving Arms?'. Known for his heartfelt acoustic performances honed in venues across London and on tours reaching as far as the US and Europe, Game offers a collection of delicate, tuneful vignettes centred around the enduring theme of love. This release follows his well-received 2022 album, 'Fine Summer Rain', and a string of singles.
Game has a history of connecting with audiences, from his early days playing solo acoustic sets to a notable moment in November 2017 when his song 'Highbury' was played at the Emirates Stadium during a North London Derby halftime. More recently, he featured at the UK West Coast Folk Festival in Blackpool.
The new EP showcases Game's signature melodic folk-pop style with thoughtful lyrics. The tracks are notably concise, each clocking in at under two minutes, yet they manage to convey a range of emotions. The EP opens with the title track, featuring a catchy, harmonious refrain that sets the tone. 'When I Think Of You' offers a more minimalist approach, highlighting Game's expressive falsetto.
A live rendition of 'Will I Love Again' is included, alongside 'Does She Love Me', which adds a touch of observational humour to the mix. The reflective closer, 'Sun On Green Fields', was inspired by a train journey Game took from Dublin to Cork. He recounts the moment, "… a huge sun appeared over the hills and trees… It stayed with me all the way, growing intense with every mile… in Cork there is a piano on the concourse… I jumped straight onto it to finish the song."
'When Will You Fall Into My Loving Arms?' is a charming addition to Ivor Game's discography, further solidifying his reputation for crafting honest and appealing acoustic music. Fans will have an opportunity to hear these new songs live as Game is set to support Yorkshire singer-songwriter Katie Spencer at Café 9 in Sheffield on April 26th and 27th.
