Mama Kin Spender Unveil New Single 'Arrows'

ARIA-nominated and WAM award-winning duo Mama Kin Spender are pulling back the curtain on their highly anticipated sophomore album, 'Promises', with the release of their captivating new single, 'Arrows'. Out now, the track offers a tantalising glimpse into an LP set to drop on Friday, August 15, just ahead of a national tour through September and October. Fans in Pomona, Murwillumbah, Brisbane, Melbourne, Archie’s Creek, Belgrave, Sydney, Milton and Dashville can prepare for an unforgettable live experience.

'Arrows' kicks off with gritty guitars and oozing harmonies, evolving into a powerful yet delicate exploration of relationship dynamics and "the drifting apart through small acts of carelessness, and yet somehow aching to connect," as the band puts it. The track, co-written by Danielle Caruana and Dingo Spender, draws inspiration from a diverse range of artists including Alabama Shakes and Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, hinting at the rich tapestry of influences woven throughout 'Promises'.

Recorded with engineer, mixer, and co-producer Dan Carroll and mastered by Lacklan Carrick, 'Promises' is a concept album delving into the optimism, decay, rampage, and transformation of love. It’s a "roaring yet tender and vulnerable collection of songs that plunge the depths of emotion," beginning with 'Arrows' and traversing through tracks like the perky 'Bleeding Out' and the raw ruminations of 'Promises'.

Danielle describes the songs as "hewn from real life journeys... bruises, shame, rage, desire, contempt, bad behaviour. This is a coming-of-age/coming-of-rage album." Dingo adds, "The songs are essentially taking any single journal entry from the last 3 years of my love life and adding music to it."

Known for their raw, percussive energy and beguiling harmonies, Mama Kin Spender—comprising long-time friends Danielle Caruana and Dingo Spender—have built a formidable reputation since their 2018 debut, 'Golden Magnetic', which earned an ARIA nomination. Their live shows are legendary, and with 'Promises' on the horizon, a new chapter is set to unfold. This includes 'Promises & Wild Beasts', a theatrical production transforming the album into a multi-disciplinary live show, premiering in early 2026.

As Dingo notes of the upcoming album shows, "You’re gonna laugh, you're gonna feel uncomfortable and at the same time, not alone, you're gonna yell with us, and then most likely cry." Danielle concludes, "We are storytellers; we mine the depths of our experiences to build the bridge of connection."
