Rappers Unite As Singaporean Hip-Hop Makes History with Mega Mixtape

A truly epic collaboration from Singapore has recently dropped, bringing together a stellar roster of 22 Malay rappers on a single mixtape. This isn't just another release; it's a monumental moment aiming to etch its name into the Singapore Book of Records for the "Most Malay Rappers Featured in a Single Mixtape."

An ambitious project, sparked by the visionaries Amyr Abadawn, Pat Machima, and Sang Chita back in September 2024, the new mixtape has been a labour of love. Despite the inevitable hurdles of scheduling conflicts and a few polite declines, the sheer determination of coordinators Pat Machima and Sang Chita ensured this dream became a reality. The result is ‘Bangkit’, a new cut meaning ‘Rise’, and a track that truly embodies its name.

The lineup is a vibrant tapestry of talent, weaving together seasoned veterans and exciting new voices from across generations. It’s a veritable who's who of Singaporean hip-hop, including Pat Machima, Chaz Ali, Zul Mystroe, Young Khalifa, Poetic Maleeka, Kamarxkazie, Flique, Arissa Zara, Eriy Ryzale, Dilliqeez, Kim$, Atrez, Sang Chita, Lee Rocka, Emma Darwisyah, I.Q., L.Mi, Far Puisi, Phazz, A.T.Y.M.E., Yun, and Fyz Jiggy.

Shining as a brilliant snapshot of the Singapore scene's diversity, the track also spotlights the talents of Arissa Zara, one of the youngest rappers, and proving age is just a number. And in a beautiful display of Singapore's multiculturalism, Lee Rocka, the sole Chinese rapper, also drops his bars entirely in Malay.

Every vocal was meticulously laid down at Exuism Record, with Magix Mpire Studio lending their expertise for instrumentals and technical wizardry. The Koolfellerz Group spearheaded the creative direction, bringing the entire vision to life. Even the music video, a visual feast shot over three days to accommodate everyone's schedules, found its perfect backdrop at Blackbook Studio and the iconic Arab Street, whose generous contributions were crucial to the stunning visuals.

Amyr Abadawn eloquently puts it, “This isn’t just a song—it’s a movement, a statement, and a memory in the making.” And for Singapore's hip-hop community, it's definitely a moment for the history books!
