From the sun-drenched shores of South Florida emerges Gobe, a true artist carving out a unique space where vibrant soundscapes meet the intricate world of tattooing. At just 25, this self-taught wunderkind is quickly becoming a name to watch, effortlessly blending everything from indie-pop to hip-hop and punk into a fresh, compelling sound. With millions of streams already under his belt, Gobe is poised to make even bigger waves with his upcoming single, 'Sun Leaves Scars'.
Gobe's knack for storytelling shines through in his music. His lyrics are raw, honest, and packed with an emotional punch that listeners can instantly connect with. Speaking on the inspiration behind 'Sun Leaves Scars', Gobe reveals, “The sun leaves scars just like people do. It feels good at first, but later you realize the damage. Same with relationships—some people move on quickly, like you never mattered, and it leaves a mark on your heart just like the sun does on your skin. That is kind of my inspiration but mostly I just record what comes to me. I started with the beat and then went to the vocals. The whole thing was made by me then had Andrew Kirk engineer it and Chris Penny redo the bass.”
Growing up in Pompano Beach, the ocean was a constant backdrop to Gobe's early life. He fondly remembers surfing with his family, his dad's classic rock tunes soundtracking their beach days. This early exposure, alongside piano lessons, laid the groundwork for his musical journey. High school saw him diving into local hip-hop and discovering the guitar via Guitar Hero, all while honing his tattooing skills on friends. His desire to create music truly ignited then, learning to mix and engineer tracks by devouring YouTube tutorials. “I just started to figure it out by watching YouTube videos on how to make music and how to engineer,” he explains. “I kind of did it all through my MacBook.”
A baseball injury redirected his path, leading him to fully commit to his artistic passion. He realised to truly make his mark, he needed to find his authentic voice. “I had to get real with myself and make music that feels like me, feels like my hometown, feels like the beach and all of the experiences that I went through,” he explains. This deep dive into his personal experiences, including witnessing his parents' divorce, shaped the unique fusion of gritty South Florida rap and the beach-rock vibes he grew up on.
Gobe's name means "Go Be Yourself," and his journey is a testament to this ethos. His recent release, 'Under My Skin', showcased his vulnerability, a theme he continues to explore in 'Sun Leaves Scars', which metaphorically connects the joy and pain of love to the sun’s warmth and its lingering burns. Gobe's mission is simple: to make his listeners feel less alone. "My hope is to basically make people feel better when they listen to my music and feel like they’re not alone,” he shares. “Maybe put a smile on people's faces when they get in their car, put the windows down, and blast my song. I hope that's their favourite part of their day.”
With an ever-growing fanbase and undeniable talent, Gobe is more than just an indie artist; he’s a creative force ready to lead the charge for South Florida's diverse soundscape. For more from Gobe, follow him today on Instagram, TikTok, and X.
