Perth-born, Nashville-based pop sensation Felicity is stirring up excitement with her latest single, ‘I’ll Have What He’s Having,’ a vibrant taster from her forthcoming EP, '4PM in The Morning', due out on August 1st via East Music Row Records. This track follows the introspective ‘Half Sad,’ further cementing Felicity’s knack for crafting catchy, relatable pop anthems.
‘I’ll Have What He’s Having’ is a masterclass in modern pop, brimming with an infectious energy that’s hard to resist. The production is a standout, feeling both sleekly polished and bursting with its own distinct personality. It’s the ideal backdrop for Felicity’s powerful vocal performance, which is packed with hooks and charismatic flair, showcasing her impressive range and songwriting prowess.
Behind the scenes, the track boasts a dream team of talent. Felicity co-wrote the song with the highly respected Asia Whiteacre, known for her work with artists like Louis Tomlinson and Hailee Steinfeld, and producer Dan Pallarin. The collective experience of this trio shines through in every note, resulting in a track that feels meticulously crafted yet effortlessly engaging.
Lyrically, ‘I’ll Have What He’s Having’ offers a witty, self-aware take on self-worth and relationships. It’s a clever twist on the classic love song, delving deeper into personal insecurities with a playful edge. Felicity explains the creative process: "Asia, Dan and I had a hell of a good time writing this song. Dan is such a talented guy and everything he was playing on piano sparked a hundred fun pop melodies. Quickly the song started to take shape."
She further elaborates on the song's core message: "We wrote it to be a love song on the surface but beneath that it’s more about the feeling of being jealous of those who have a healthier, kinder self image than I seem to have. The main chorus lyric is 'I’ll have what he’s having, what’s it like to be nice to yourself? I’m just mean, dammit' and that’s a good synopsis for me as a person but also the song as a whole." This candid insight adds another layer of depth to the track, making it not just a bop, but also a relatable reflection on the internal monologue many of us experience.
With ‘I’ll Have What He’s Having,’ Felicity continues to build anticipation for '4PM in The Morning'. If these singles are anything to go by, the EP is set to be a significant moment for the pop artist, promising a collection of tracks that are as insightful as they are irresistible. Keep your ears peeled for the full release on August 1st.
