Lord Jane Unleash Potent New Single 'Kaleidoscopes'

Following the strong reception for their debut EP 'Tulips', Irish outfit Lord Jane are back with a bang, dropping their impactful new single, 'Kaleidoscopes'. This track is the first taste of new music since their initial offering and clearly showcases the band's evolution towards a freer sound and deeply felt lyrics.

Lord Jane certainly turned heads in 2024, with RTE2FM tipping them for "very big things". Their 'Tulips' EP captured their signature experimental, groove-driven sound, recorded live and raw at Analogue Catalogue Recording Studio. The band quickly became known for serving up "Godzilla-sized hooks and irresistible grooves," according to Hot Press, bottling a potent, unfiltered energy on that debut. 'Kaleidoscopes' looks set to push those musical boundaries even further.

On 'Kaleidoscopes', Lord Jane expand their sonic palette. The track builds with dynamic shifts and a pulsing groove underpinning the verses. Frontwoman Clodagh May's vocals are both introspective and powerful, guiding the listener through a mesmeric pre-chorus before the song explodes into a truly electrifying chorus. A dreamy bridge featuring gentle guitars offers a moment of calm, quickly dissolving into an unexpectedly shifting, infectious rhythm before culminating in a crushing, high-energy finish.

While the 'Tulips' EP dove into personal struggles with mental health, trauma, and self-reflection, 'Kaleidoscopes' turns its gaze outwards. The single offers a wider perspective on how our viewpoints change as we navigate the world's inherent chaos. It’s a track that explores themes of personal growth, transformation, and how our surroundings shape our inner landscape.

Vocalist Clodagh May explains the inspiration behind the track, “'Kaleidoscopes’ is inspired by all that is wrong with the world in this epidemic of oppression and systematic violence. It’s a love letter to our childhood innocence and how simple the world looks through our privileged, rainbow-tinted eyes. Written out of anger and frustration at how little we can do except watch on with tears in our eyes, we hope ‘Kaleidoscopes’ serves as a thought-provoking message to anyone who hears it.”

Once again recorded at the familiar surroundings of Analogue Catalogue Recording Studio, 'Kaleidoscopes' highlights the undeniable chemistry within the band. Bassist Carl Small handled the recording and mixing himself, resulting in an authentically independent production that truly captures Lord Jane's creative vision without outside interference. This single signals the beginning of an exciting new chapter for the band, with a second EP already planned for later in the year.

Lord Jane, made up of Aidan Reynolds (guitar), Carl Small (bass), Clodagh May (vocals), Dylan Norton (drums), and Sam Foote (guitar), continue to build momentum in their native Ireland, having featured on BBC Introducing, RTE2FM, Hot Press, and Chord Blossom. Their reputation for compelling live shows is quickly cementing their place in the Irish music scene.
