RAGEFLOWER's 'Hands On' Is A Bold Dive into Desire

RAGEFLOWER, an artist rapidly gaining traction, has dropped her latest single, 'Hands On', a compelling alt-pop track accompanied by a visually striking and playful music video. This release marks the second glimpse into her upcoming debut EP, slated for August, and solidifies her position as a rising force in the indie scene.

Drawing inspiration from the likes of The Japanese House, Phoebe Bridgers, and Pale Waves, RAGEFLOWER crafts a sound that's both intimate and expansive. 'Hands On' dives into the complexities of desire, exploring female sexuality and queer experiences with a raw honesty. As she explains, "'Hands On' is about lust, it’s an exploration of female sexuality and queerness. It’s about wanting something you can’t have, and the desperation and confusion that comes with that. I wanted to write a hard-hitting pop song about sex and desire, something that captured those feelings in a guttural, animal and simple way."

The accompanying music video amplifies this message with a tongue-in-cheek narrative. RAGEFLOWER envisioned a scenario that subverts traditional tropes, stating, "I came up with the idea of portraying a sleazy businessman at a bikini carwash. I really wanted to parody those 80’s glam rock music videos, so I got all my girlfriends on board to play these overtly sexual, cartoonish characters and just make it super gay. I wanted them to feel empowered, hot, liberated and have this fabulous party. Owning my sexuality has been a hugely transformative process for me, and playing with my gender expression in this video was so cathartic." The video's vibrant and exaggerated imagery challenges conventional portrayals of sexuality, offering a refreshing and empowering perspective.

This release follows her previous single, 'ANGEL THINGS', which garnered significant attention, including a spot on Triple J's "Hottest Seat" top 10, courtesy of The Buoys. This recognition has fuelled anticipation for her forthcoming EP, and RAGEFLOWER plans to maintain momentum by releasing a new track every six weeks leading up to the full release. This consistent output demonstrates her dedication and artistic drive, promising a summer filled with her distinctive sound.

With 'Hands On', RAGEFLOWER establishes herself as an artist unafraid to explore complex themes with boldness and humour, and her burgeoning career is certainly one to watch.
