Western Australian singer-songwriter Riley Pearce is back with a heartfelt new track, 'Good To Me Now'. The single offers a gentle yet powerful look at how life's evolving priorities, particularly becoming a dad, have reshaped his view of what success really means.
Penned with Canadian artist Sam Lynch, the song beautifully marries a relaxed, rhythmic feel with Riley's knack for getting personal with his lyrics. It’s a tune that’s bound to resonate with anyone navigating the sometimes-conflicted feelings that come with growing up and letting go of old ambitions to make space for new joys.
Riley shared his thoughts on the inspiration behind the track, explaining, “Music and its place in my life has shifted somewhat since becoming a father, as other things take priority, and I've morphed music to fit my life instead of the inverse. A part of that meant letting go of some dreams and making way for new ones, soaking myself in the gratitude of what I have been lucky enough to live through, what I presently surround myself with, and all that I have to look forward to. ‘Good To Me Now’ is a representation of these changing priorities.”
'Good To Me Now' follows a couple of earlier singles that hinted at this new phase for Riley. 'Like A River', released in March, was a raw and atmospheric dive into the pressures of the creative world and the mental toll it can take. April's 'Magnets', in contrast, offered a moment of peace, written shortly after his second daughter arrived and highlighting the simple, happy moments that help keep things in perspective.
These three songs together paint a picture of a deeply personal musical collection in the making, capturing the ongoing juggle between career drive and finding life balance, dealing with exhaustion while trying to be present, and the shift in identity that comes with building a home.
Fresh off a headline tour across the UK and Europe in April, which included stops in places like London, Manchester, and Glasgow, and a performance at Switzerland’s Zermatt Unplugged festival, it seems the next chapter for Riley Pearce is shaping up to be his most open and personal yet.
This new single also caps off a significant year for Pearce. After dropping his sophomore album, 'It's Your Turn Now', in June 2024, he toured extensively in Australia, supported Wild Rivers in Europe and the UK, and saw his popular track "Brave" featured in the season finale of the hit series Maxton Hall.
