Torizon Announced Emotionally Charged EP and New Single 'Sober'

Brisbane petalcore trailblazers, Torizon, are set to drop their highly anticipated debut EP, 'Meliora', on Friday, 19th September. To coincide with this exciting announcement, the band has unleashed their potent new single, 'Sober', alongside a string of East Coast tour dates. 'Sober', expertly produced and mixed by Kalen Austin and mastered by Mike Kalajian at Rogue Planet Studios (known for their work with Bad Omens and Papa Roach), promises to be a deeply impactful release.

'Sober' immediately grabs your attention with an intricate synth introduction before exploding into a formidable soundscape. The track is a masterclass in dynamic shifts, building and receding with deliberate intensity, propelled by thunderous rhythms, searing riffs, and sweeping orchestral elements. It navigates a tumultuous emotional journey, culminating in a prog-infused bridge. The dual vocals of frontwoman Mish Sharma and bassist Ben Gallaher intertwine seamlessly, echoing the anguish of the characters Luna and Sam, whose narrative unfolds through Torizon's music.

Speaking on the profound meaning behind 'Sober', Torizon shared, "'Sober' picks up where 'Bloom' left off - after Luna and Sam tragically lose their baby. It dives into the aftermath and how their relationship unravels under the weight of the miscarriage. We used addiction as a metaphor to capture the gut-wrenching pain they're going through. It's a harsh reality for many who've been in similar situations, where coping can sometimes mean self-destruction."

The single is accompanied by a powerful and raw music video, crafted by Emerge Creative, which visually portrays Luna and Sam's desperate attempts at reconciliation. Mish added, "It's a pretty confronting clip. There are some personal touches in this video too - the IVF needles are from my egg donation process, and the bouquet of roses is a subtle nod to 'Bloom', tying the storylines together."

Earlier this year, Torizon's single 'Bloom' garnered significant attention, amassing over 10,000 Spotify streams in its first week and earning a coveted spot on Apple Music's Breaking Hard Rock playlist. The track also received widespread support from prominent Australian music outlets and radio stations, showcasing the band's growing reach.
