Torizon Unearth Raw Emotion with Powerful New Single 'Bloom'

Brisbane's own 'petalcore' trailblazers, Torizon, have unleashed their latest single, 'Bloom', a track that doesn't shy away from tackling profound emotional depths. Produced and mixed by the skilled hands of Kalen Austin and mastered by Mike Kalajian at Rogue Planet Studios, known for his work with acts like Bad Omens and Papa Roach, 'Bloom' is a masterclass in blending heavy musicality with heartfelt vulnerability.

The song is a sonic journey, immediately grabbing you with sharp, incisive guitar work, a pounding rhythm section, and basslines that truly hit hard. These powerful elements are softened and complemented by bright, expansive synth textures, creating a dynamic and immersive soundscape. Frontwoman Mish Sharma delivers a truly captivating performance, her vocals effortlessly shifting between moments of intense, raw power and fragile, delicate beauty. Bassist Ben Gallaher adds another layer to the narrative, his complementary vocal lines providing a dual perspective to the story of Luna and Sam as they navigate the devastating experience of a miscarriage. The track builds to a magnificent bridge before a cathartic guitar solo underscores the raw grief expressed in the lyrics. The central metaphor of a flower that never got the chance to bloom poignantly encapsulates the theme of profound loss.

Torizon spoke candidly about the inspiration behind 'Bloom': "There is still stigma around the topic of miscarriage and fertility issues - it's one of the most traumatic things people go through, and yet it's still not talked about enough. When we started exploring this concept, people in our circle opened up about the societal pressure to be secretive about it all, which only perpetuates the isolation. This set in motion a body of work that starts with 'Bloom' and will unfold over the next few months."

Accompanying the single is a striking music video, a collaboration with Alex Nelson from Emerge Creative. The visuals intersperse scenes of a grieving Luna with shots of the band performing, bathed in vivid red light. Mish explained the video's settings, saying, "The storyline was shot at my place," and adding, "The band performance was filmed at a funky little studio in Milton called Bunker Creative."She also noted the deliberate use of colour, "We used red lighting specifically to mirror the stained glass artwork, created by Numa Creative."

Torizon are no strangers to the live circuit, having successfully headlined shows in their hometown and supported notable bands such as Circles and The Last Martyr, alongside interstate runs with Orpheus Omega. Their previous releases have garnered significant attention, with support from national radio like triple j and airplay across numerous community stations in Australia. They've also received positive coverage from various music blogs and publications, cementing their place as a compelling force in the heavy music scene. 'Bloom' looks set to continue this upward trajectory, showcasing a band unafraid to explore difficult themes with both power and grace.
