Born in Owensboro, Kentucky, a city made famous for bringing the industrial, medical, retails, and cultural hub of the state, Gerry Smoot let the elements of his surroundings influence his sound and forge him into the multi-instrumentalist and musician that he is today.
Eager to learn and further expand his sound, Gerry began to build on the work of his influences, taking the songs of Jeff Lorber, Prince, D’Angelo, and Art Tatum to create something truly remarkable. Beginning on the key’s at the age of two, Gerry had brought the drums and bass guitar into his arsenal by the age of nine. With a dedication and passion for music that went unparalleled in his formative years, Gerry began to set his sight on an international career in music after starting to perform and record with the likes of Ben Tankard and Rob White.
“I am blessed to have experienced true musicianship through generations of pioneers”, Gerry explained upon the release of his last release, ‘My Musical Journey’ in 2017.
Now, Gerry is proud to release his third album, ‘The Inquirer’, a fifteen-track collection of smooth, contemporary jazz. Made with the goal to create better and better music with each new release, ‘The Inquirer’ is easily Gerry’s most accomplished release to date.
