Review: CSpence – ‘Fact Or Fiction’

Currently based in Atlanta, CSpence was born in Panama City and raised in Warner Robins, GA where he began to develop a textured, universal sound. Influenced by the likes of Outkast, Devin the Dude, Krs One, Curtis Mayfield, Maze and Frankie Beverly, CSpence is an artist with a diverse and expansive sound, one who strives to make a connection with his fans one beat at a time.

His latest project to date, ‘Fact or Fiction’ is a deft hip-hop single featuring a dynamic flow and lyrics that are set to challenge his listeners. Built upon the simple question of whether or not they're being real with themselves or simply trying to deceive others, it’s a rare cut with both style and substance, seeking to bring a more authentic sound to generally overblown genre.

A down to earth single, ‘Fact Or Fiction’ is built on a simple, hard-hitting beat that compounds over time, creating a visceral sound that wonderfully exemplifies the songs meaning. Built not to impress, but simply to entertain and educate, there is an enduring, rough quality about it the track that makes it believable and entrancing in equal measure.

It's refreshing to hear a song a rap song that isn’t all built on bravado and macho appeal, and CSpence has done an stellar job in bringing reality back to rap. Rough, ready, and brimming with Southern charm, ‘Fact Or Fiction is a track that can be easily and thoroughly enjoyed, making it a triumphant illustration of the aspiring rapper’s talents.
