Review: Ritz Murphy – ‘Boytoy’

Originally from San Diego, Ritz Murphy started singing at a young age, dedicating himself to music from day one. Straight out of school, Ritz joined the vocal group Rare Blend, and before he knew it, they were signed to Curb Records in Nashville, marking the start of a blossoming career. With a number of singles that topped the charts, including songs on the platinum-selling soundtrack for ‘Coyote Ugly’ and the international hit film ‘Angel Eyes’ starring Jennifer Lopez, Rare Blend made their mark in stunning fashion, pushing on from strength to strength.

Following his successful run with Rare Blend, Ritz decided to embark on his solo career, moving to Los Angeles and working with a number of popular L.A. bands, producers, and songwriters. Teaming up with producers and writers like Kenetix and Krazyfigz, Ritz has worked tirelessly to forge a new chapter in his career, starting it all with new single ‘Boytoy’.

Taken from his upcoming album, ‘Back in the Game’, Ritz’s new single has an unmistakable rhythmic beat, channelling classic RnB with a flourish of dance-heavy electronica. Infused with a hook that is purpose-built to entertain, Ritz’s vocals cut swiftly through the instrumentals with their own polished melody, creating an interwoven hook that you can’t help but sing along to. An evolved RnB cut with a simple and unapologetic pop centre, everything about ‘Boytoy’ has been buffed and polished to a lustrous shine.

Available now on all major music platforms including Spotify, Apple Music, iTunes and Amazon Music, ‘Boytoy’ is a song that’s predicted to race straight to the top of the charts, and after just a few listen, it’s easy to hear why. Check it out above.

Score: 8/10
