He's already given us a taste of what's to come with the release of three tracks from the album: ‘Lovesong Ft. Brixton’, ‘The Love Book Ft. Lyra Mae’, and 'Intro', all of which are already garnering impressive numbers.
We recently caught up with Lil Deezull to chat about his impressive rise, from his early days crafting diss tracks for fun to the viral success that prompted him to take his music career seriously.
It’s great to chat with you today. You have a new album on the way, but where due your career in music begin?
“I truly started making music in 2015 when I was free-styling, but didn’t really get the ball rolling until 2018 when I started making diss tracks for fun. Then after I released my album ‘Prime Time’, which included a song called ‘Purple Rain’, that song sort of went viral, and since then, I started taking things seriously.”
Can you tell us a bit about upcoming album and what it means to you?
“My latest release, ‘For All The Snow Bunnie’ is my official return after a hiatus last year, and I have a lot to say on it about my love life.”
Are there any artists, moments, or experiences that influenced you when writing the release?
“Yes, my dating life inspired this album big time, and I also write a lot about daily experiences, so that’s used a lot in the album as well. Also, my good friend Brixton, an upcoming artist from Switzerland, helped inspire me to create this album.”
What was your songwriting process for the release? How did it all come together?
“It came along using what I see and hear, as well as what I live in my daily life.”
How would you describe the sound on your latest release? Has there been a change or evolution in style since you first began?
“So, the sound is really unique, and I’m a unique artist. I like to make songs in multiple genres to reach different audiences. Also, yes, there has been a change in my style since I first began because when I first began, I just made diss tracks for fun, but now that I take things seriously, I have completely changed my style and try to be different from other artists.”
Is there a central message or theme you were trying to convey in your latest release? Is there a moment in the release that really captures that idea?
“Yes, my central theme is that if you want something, then you better go for it before it’s too late, because I made that same mistake and now I’m paying the price for it.”
Looking ahead, what are your aspirations as an artist? Where do you see yourself in the next few years, both musically and personally?
“In the next few years, I hope to be up there and well-known. I hope to build a lasting legacy that affects both my community and my family for generations to come.”
What's next after this release? Do you have any new releases or shows on the horizon?
“In the Fall, I plan on dropping my most anticipated album, ‘Band Kid’. It’s an album that’s been two years in the making and will be huge in terms of song count.”
What sort of reception have you had to your latest release? Are there any memorable moments that stand out?
“So far, with the few songs that I’ve released, I have over 300,000 plays on all platforms combined, and that completely crushed all of my recent song plays, which originally totalled up to over 100,000. This album is going to be huge and do big numbers.”
Is there anything you would like to say to our audience? How can they connect with you and help support you?
“I would like to say take my album as motivation to do better in life and take what you want before it’s too late. Don’t be me and end up stressing out over what could’ve been.”
It’s clear that ‘For All The Snow Bunnies’ marks a significant and deeply personal return for Lil Deezull, a project born from his own love life and daily experiences, infused with a poignant message about seizing opportunities before it’s too late.
