After absolutely smashing 2024, which saw the release of his album 'Mending' and killer sets at Mystery Festival and Famous Last Words over in Auckland, New Zealand's own electronic maestro, Late June, isn't slowing down. He's diving straight into the new year with a fresh single, 'i'd say anything to comfort you', marking his first release since teaming up with DRM/The Orchard in a brand-new partnership.
Right from the get-go, 'i'd say anything to comfort you' bursts with energy. A strong, driving beat propels the track forward, joined by sparkling synths and energetic vocals that dance together, creating a truly joyful listening experience from start to finish.
Late June, the creative alias of Aotearoa-based producer Sonny Bevin, has built up an impressive body of work over nearly a decade. He's put out three albums, multiple EPs, and a string of singles, gathering a solid fanbase along the way. His tracks have picked up serious traction on major streaming platforms like Spotify, Apple Music, Soundcloud, and Pandora, and earned spins on influential radio stations including George FM in New Zealand, triple J in Australia, KNHC 89.5 in the USA, and SiriusXM Chill, also stateside.
Beyond his original productions, Sonny's also lent his touch to tracks for a diverse group of artists, crafting remixes for names such as Molly Otto, XIXI, Jedha, Niko Walters, PINES, Ark Patrol, We Are Fury, Shae District and Rootkit. When it comes to the live scene, Late June is a seriously accomplished DJ.
He's graced stages at major events like Our:House Festival in 2023, playing alongside heavyweights like MEDUZA and Kah-Lo, Mystery Festival in 2024 where he hit the main stage with Nicole Millar, Friction, and Vibe Chemistry, and Famous Last Words 2024, sharing the bill with Pendulum. He's also provided support for artists such as BAYNK, Nosaj Thing, and Edapollo. Adding another cool notch to his belt, he was selected for Converse's All Star campaign, participating in a workshop with Tyler The Creator in Eora/Sydney.
This new single feels like an exciting taste of what's to come from Late June under his new label partnership, building on the momentum of a huge past year. Keep an ear out – it sounds like there's plenty more brilliant music on the horizon.
