Soul Searching & Twilight Hours Colour Travis Marks’ New Mini Album

Travis Marks, the genre-bending Kansas City artist has just released his new mini-album, ‘Morning After’, a contemplative and emotionally reflective release that captures raw vulnerability. A release that’s part wavy dancehall R&B, part alt-pop, ‘Morning After’ finds Travis at his most poignant and emotionally vibrant.

A detailed narrative of a long night spent desperately trying to mend a fractured connection, the release kicks off with ‘Heartbroken (Intro)’, instantly draws you into the aftermath. Marks sets the scene with tender vocals, calling out with lines like, “How many calls can go to voicemail? I just wanna know where did you go”. It’s that universal feeling of being left in the lurch, amplified by a smooth blend of piano notes and modern R&B rhythms.

From there, Travis brings us into ‘Void’, a track dedicated to self-reflection. Travis turns the lens inwards, questioning how things went awry and how he ended up “lost in this dark void.” It’s a moment of honest introspection, amplified by swirling electronic tones that perfectly underscore the unsettled mood.

But the heart of the album, and arguably its most potent moment, arrives with the standout single ‘3 AM’. Released back in March, this track perfectly encapsulates that desperate, pre-dawn scramble to fix things before it’s too late. It’s all about vulnerability, the dawning realisation of what went wrong, and the frantic desire to make amends before the sun signals a point of no return. As Marks himself puts it, each song is “a transparent story about doing whatever it takes to get back to love and being happy again.”

Penned by Travis and produced by Paul Richardson, ‘Morning After’ is clearly a deeply personal project, a gift to his supporters, affectionately dubbed ‘The Gems’. Travis Marks continues to prove why he’s one to watch, sharing fragments of his soul through poignant lyrics, all wrapped up in his signature blend of electronic R&B and alternative pop.If you’ve ever woken up regretting the night before, ‘Morning After’ is the soundtrack you’ve been waiting for.
