As proud members of the queer community, Worm Girlz are fierce advocates for their peers, equally ready to celebrate and to fight for their representation. The band shared their inspiration, stating, “‘Get Ugly’ is a queer anthem and while LGBTQIA+ rights are being threatened across the world, we felt compelled to shed the shame and unapologetically be loud and proud this pride month.”

Vocalist Lauren elaborated on the song’s origins: “As I grew up and learned how to fit in with the world I believed my self-worth came down to one question… how appealing am I to men? I hated myself because men didn’t find me hot enough. UHH WTF?!?”
