Hot off a sensational sold-out UK tour, culminating in a triumphant night at Alexandra Palace and a stellar debut on Jools Holland, Wunderhorse are keeping the momentum soaring with their fresh single, 'The Rope'.
This track, born from a burst of creativity mere weeks before their massive headline shows last month, was laid down in a flash at London's RAK Studios with producer Loren Humphrey. It perfectly encapsulates the band's knack for spontaneous, urgent rock 'n' roll, a vibe that permeates their recent album, 'Midas'.
'Midas', which dropped last August, was crafted in the legendary Pachyderm Studio in Minnesota—the very spot where Nirvana's 'In Utero' and PJ Harvey's 'Rid Of Me' came to life. With Craig Silvey (known for his work with The Rolling Stones and The National) at the production helm, the album sees Wunderhorse cementing their status as one of the UK's most electrifying guitar bands, following up their acclaimed 2022 debut, 'Cub'.
The band deliberately opted for an unpolished, live recording approach for 'Midas', aiming to bottle the raw energy of their acclaimed live performances. Frontman Jacob Slater shared their vision: "When we first went into the studio to make this record, the only thing we were sure about is how we wanted it to sound: very imperfect, very live, very raw. We wanted it to sound like your face is pressed up against the amplifiers, like you've been locked inside the bass drum." That visceral intensity truly shines through, making 'Midas' a must-listen for anyone craving authentic rock.
And for their fans down under, the wait is almost over! Wunderhorse are finally heading to Australia this September for their debut tour, presented by Handsome Tours. The band expressed their excitement, stating, "We’ve wanted to head over to AUS and NZ for a while but it never quite materialised for one reason or another. To be heading out there for the first time to some upgraded and sold out venues is surreal to say the least.
