Willie Lock

  • 2 min read

Rising from New York City’s legendary music scene, Willie Lock has become a prominent name throughout the greater United States. Armed with a distinct country-rock style that pays homage to his upbringing in the picturesque town of Bloomington, Indiana, Willie has spent the last few years refining his sound and creating a rustic blend of emotive indie-folk wonder.

After studying opera at Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music, Willie began writing his own songs as a release from the daily stress of conservatory life. It was a habit that became an obsession, and post-college, he went on to co-found the internationally acclaimed a cappella group Gentleman’s Rule, creating and producing viral videos and studio albums, as well as starring in a nationally televised concert special on PBS.

After an extensive five-year-run with Gentleman’s Rule, gracing stages all over the world, Willie began writing the songs that would eventually become his debut album as a solo artist, pushing his talents and creativity in new directions to create an album that was true to his roots and own timeless style. The result of these sessions is something truly special, and have already delivered two impressive singles, including his critically-acclaimed ‘College Town’, and his most recent release, the nostalgic and bittersweet ‘When We Were 17’.

A song that reminds us all of the sweeter times in life, ‘When We Were 17’ sees Willie looking back at the golden days of going to football games with friends, hanging out with our classmates, and making the most out of life. It’s a song that has both style and substance, offering a gorgeous, emotive melody that is sure to leave you with a smile on your face and an ache in your chest.

To date, Willie’s work has been featured by MTV, Billboard, On Air With Ryan Seacrest, and Country Swag, and he has shared the stage with artists such as Jake Owen, Pete Davidson, and Cuba Gooding Jr., so naturally, his upcoming album comes highly anticipated by both fans and critics alike.

The album, which has been titled ‘West Side Stores’, is set to be an eclectic blend of songs about uprooting his life in Indiana to move to New York City and will feature both his current singles. For more, make sure you follow Willie on his social media pages below.
