A wonderfully talented up-and-coming artist based in the creative heart of Nottingham, Charity Stow has always been drawn to music. Hailing from a musical family, Charity has found her unique sound with support and guidance from her father, Jack, both of whom are self-taught musicians with a penchant for emotive, tactile sounds. With songwriting shaped by the music of the greats, such as Carole King, Bob Dylan and The Beatles, she’s poised to become one of the most impressive new artists around, and it’s all thanks to her debut EP ‘Perfect Thought’.
After first coming to our attention with the release of her debut single, the title track for the EP, Charity has remained ever-present on our radar, and we’ve been eagerly awaiting the release of the full EP. A project the promised to be one of the most expressive independent releases of the year, ‘Perfect Thought’ has a lot to live up to, and thankfully, it’s done so with ease.
A four-track release that sees the previous single met by three original pieces, ‘Perfect Thought’ arrives as an effortlessly charming piece of alt-pop, one that showcases Charity’s talents and potential with colour, candour, and plenty of relatable moments.
Buoyed by beautiful vocals that shine with honesty and passion, the EP is a constant source of enjoyment, offering a clever blend of slow-burning melodies, charming acoustic moments, and upbeat triumphs that provide limitless highlights. Throughout, the combination of textured guitar with Charity’s vocals is simply magical, cutting a charming sound that is guaranteed to speak right to your heart and soul. Similarly, her lyrics will have you enchanted, particularly in songs like the title track and ‘Timothy’, where she really showcases her ability to weave honest, poetic lines.
With the new EP, Charity is finding her own place in the music scene and creating a unique sound through which to channel her experiences, and it’s an absolute pleasure to hear. Filled with purpose, promise, and plenty of heartfelt lessons, ‘Perfect Thought’ is a release that well and truly lives up to its name.
