A prolific artist and creative talent, Dylan Tauber tore through our musical radar only a few months ago with the release of his romantic and wonderfully inspired fourteenth album, ‘He Loves Carmen’. A bold release, it was passionate, well-produced, and lovingly built, illustrating his love for his partner Carmen in the purest way possible. Now, just a few months after that release, Dylan is back in the spotlight, championing his new ambient album, ‘The Lagoon’.
An award-winning electronic musician, cyber artist, photographer, and author, Dylan has made music all across the globe, from the bustling hear of NYC, to Jerusalem, Miami, a remote island in the southwestern Pacific, and now a kibbutz in northern Israel where he is Artist-in-Residence. Stepping between styles and genres, he’s become a wonderfully universal artist, and with ‘The Lagoon’, he’s taken us all back to a world of early trance melodies, sublime 2000s beats, and polished production.
From the very first track, Dylan creates a gorgeous electronic world, carving out a gentle, rolling soundscape in ‘Please Stay’. Delivering soft, ruminative beats that are washed in soothing vocals, and a minimalist melody, it’s a piece that sets the stage perfectly. As the album continues, tracks like ‘Dance for Me’ and ‘Cyber Spirit’ shine with a unique energy, blending powerful vocals and spacious grooves with pulsating synths and some tempered percussion, while ‘Walk With Me’ hits with a deliberate change of pace.
In ‘Immortal’ and ‘Don’t Let Go’, Dylan brings us back to some classic trance vibes, combining memorable vocal hooks and addictive rhythms perfectly to really get your pulse racing. Built alongside some guest vocals in the latter track, there’s a sense of power and passion that is simply captivating. For the final flourish, the title track and ‘Heaven on Earth’ act as brilliant highlights, pinning the best elements of the album together into two triumphant tracks. It’s a gorgeous and climactic point on the album, where the tracks break and grab your attention before Dylan slowly lets you return to reality with ‘The Mermaid’, a dance-infused instrumental that fades away gently.
Along with the album, Dylan has also included a special treat for fans of ‘He Loves Carmen’, with the ‘Light Warrior’ resurfacing as a bold new remix. We won’t spoil the sound for you, but you’ll definitely want to check it out.
Continuing to impress and prove his versatility, ‘The Lagoon’ is another remarkable piece from Dylan, capturing a new shade of his colourful and instantly recognisable sound. From the more subtle tracks to the full trance anthems, it’s a release that can be enjoyed anywhere and anytime.
