Eddie Tasker – ‘Paris’

  • 2 min read

A fiercely talented unsigned artist, Eddie Tasker might be a new face on our radar, but he’s well and truly madking his mark. Armed with a string of impressive singles that he’s shared via his YouTube page; Eddie has developed an evocative singer-songwriter sound that is sure to impress, blurring the lines between modern acoustics and smoky jazz sounds.

For his latest single, the aptly named ‘Paris’, Eddie has been inspired by the noir films of old, crafting an impressive alt-rock anthem that embodies the free energy of lounge jazz with the emotive and undeniably romantic sentiments of the city itself.

Musically, the single is arguable one of Eddie’s most evocative so far, building itself upon a mesmerising string of gentle acoustic chords, lingering tones, and sweeping, nostalgic chords. Reminiscent of The Libertine’s ‘France’, Eddie’s track is stripped back and torn from the heart, offering a deep, ambient sound that acts as a nuanced backdrop for his rough, textured vocals. With the track, there’s a dark narrative that Eddie spins with relative ease, telling the tale of an adulterous husband and father-to-be who stalks the city streets.

A heartfelt and stripped-back song with a tragic theme, ‘Paris’ fits well into Eddie’s growing catalogue, showcasing his tender sound and songwriting in a way that many artists would be afraid to. Available now exclusively on his YouTube channel, Eddie’s new single isn’t perfect, but it is wonderfully engaging.

A blossoming talent who is carving out an impressive, independent sound, Eddie is a national name just waiting to be discovered and cultivated, and if he can keep producing songs with the same emotional weight as ‘Paris’, it won’t be long before ‘unsigned’ is one adjective we can’t attribute to him.
