A singer-songwriter from Australia who has found a new home in Croatia, Robert James Hudulin, better known by his stage name of Hoodooleen has always been passionate about music and composing. A talented newcomer with a wide range of influences, Robert has built his own sound on a vibrant blend of classical, blues, pop, and rock, stitching together sounds to create his a unique aural experience of his very own design. After cutting his teeth with a variety of bands, Robert has struck out on his own, armed with his piano and a handful of songs, including the brand new ‘Little Johnny’.
Heavily inspired by The Book of Revelations, the new single is a quirky and relatable romp that sees Robert expanding his sound and accentuating his connection with some timeless soul and gospel sounds. Built on honest, heartfelt vocals and a gorgeous piano-based melody that cuts a unique and sincere path, there’s a sense of magic held within the golden tones of ‘Little Johnny’, and it's all too easy to get swept away by them.
One of the main fixtures of the single, Robert’s vocals are simply breathtaking, exploring the gospel and spiritual side of the single with a charm and sincerity that is becoming rarer and rarer in modern music. It’s a wonderful thing to hear and a perfect example of what Robert has to offer.
Backed by a very special music video that perfectly reflects the lyrical nature of the song, ‘Little Johnny’ is a unique musical entity that proves the power of minimalism and a strong message. Check out the video below via YouTube.
