Melbourne’s Johnny Bottos has recently unleashed his latest sonic assault with the compelling new cut, ‘Blood Stained Heart’. For a musician who picked up a guitar at the tender age of ten and has been meticulously honing his craft for two decades, this track is a perfect snapshot of a dream now vividly realised.
‘Blood Stained Heart’ is a deeply personal offering caught in a visceral cacophony of sound. Johnny spoke candidly about the song’s origins, explaining, “’Blood Stained Heart’ is a heavy metal song that talks about a relationship that was very tough, and I had proof of this person cheating on me. This person meant a lot to me, but it was clear things weren’t fixable. Once we had broken up, I found myself going through a very hard stint of depression. It was one of the worst and hardest times of my life. I even had a suicide attempt that failed, and I’m so grateful it did.”
Musically, ‘Blood Stained Heart’ is a whirlwind. It’s a relentless torrent of scorching guitar work, precise percussion, and exhilarating, face-melting riffs that demand attention from the very first note. The sheer intensity and raw power of the track are relentless, sweeping you away in a tight barrage of noise. Through it all, there’s a melodic undercurrent that’s hard to ignore. Johnny’s commanding vocals navigate this intricate balance, carving out a distinct path through the metallic landscape.
Working with producer Mike Trubetskov, this single serves as the title track for Bottos' eagerly anticipated debut album, slated for release later this year. The forthcoming record promises to dive further into themes of mental health, past trauma, and the profound catharsis found within music – a journey that many listeners will undoubtedly find relatable.
While 'Blood Stained Heart' firmly plants its flag in the heavy metal realm, fans can expect Johnny to explore a wider spectrum of genres in the future, including death metal and hard rock, showcasing his diverse musical inspirations and aiming to offer something for every palate.
