Lil Monsta Kid – ‘GO+MONSTA’

  • 2 min read

A raucous new talent with a wild and undeniable hip-hop sound, Lil Monsta Kid has spent the better part of the year launching his music career. Based in the heart of Powder Springs, Georgia, Lil Monsta Kid is slowly redefining the modern rap scene with his bold and imaginative style.

Inspired by the like of Playboi Carti, Yeat, Lil Uzi Vert, Juice WRLD, and Trippie Redd, Lil Monsta Kid has broken boundaries with his riotous punk-infused sound, lashing out with a true rockstar vibe and plenty of original cuts. To illustrate his style, Lil Monsta Kid has dropped his debut album, and it’s filled to the brim with massive anthems.

Titled ‘GO+MONSTA’, the album hits through waves of raw talent and brazen beats, outlining thirteen original tracks and a brilliant roster of guest artists. Armed with tracks like ‘On Go’ and ‘Enough’, Lil Kid Monster asserts his style almost immediately, creating a rolling sound that reflects modern times and his own personal experiences. Musically, he carves out a straight shot of modulated beats and quickfire vocals, layering rapid melodies with clever wordplay, clean delivery, and dynamic vibes.

Elsewhere, ‘$ayin’ evolves with dizzying synths, flickers of autotune, and heavier, more developed sound, while ‘W3LCOME TO H3LL’ offers a more conventional sound that has been artfully twisted with a brave, future-thinking style. As the album continues, ‘DARK+KNIGHT’ revels in a dark, industrial grind and frenzied drums, while the title track dips into some heavy metal anthemics, creating a deft sensory assault that never fails to excite.

An invigorating show of what Lil Monsta Kid can achieve, ‘GO+MONSTA’ is everything that we’ve been expecting; an album that sets its own pace, unapologetically break boundaries, and never lets up. Along with the release of the album, Lil Monsta Kid has also dropped a brand-new EP called ‘Scars’, which perfectly builds on the sound of the record.

Score: 8/10
