Ned Harris – ‘Let’s Make It Beautiful’

  • 2 min read

Born in Albany, Georgia, Ned Harris began singing at the young age of five. A child with an obvious gift, he joined his local church choir at the age of eleven and began performing with his community theatre before he was old enough to vote or drink legally. Influenced by the Motown music that his parents kept in rotation during car rides around Albany, Ned fell in love with the era, taking lead from the greats and forging his own musical path.

As a former member of quartet, The Unifics, Ned prides himself in holding firm to the foundation of what the forefathers of R&B and Soul music have built over the years. With every track that he puts his name on, Ned makes a conscious effort to create quality music that is inspired by greats like Prince, Smokey Robinson, Michael Jackson, Sam Cooke and Marvin Gaye.

True to his values, Ned’s debut single a stunning piece of contemporary soul music. Titled ‘Let’s Make It Beautiful’, the single arrives at the perfect introduction to his sultry, smooth sound. Driven by instrumentals that slowly sink into the background, the single is all about Ned’s vocals and performance. Match by a silky smooth production that perfectly reflects each note, Ned’s performance on the track is truly something to behold. His delivery and vocals are clean, emotive, and simply remarkable, adding a delicate refinement to the track that lets the soul of it shine.

While the heart and soul of the song come from Ned’s vocals, it’s important to note how seamlessly he has been able to mould his traditional influences into a truly modern sound. While ‘Let’s Make It Beautiful’ has a very honest and direct soul sound at its core, it carries with it elements of contemporary RnB, deftly bringing the two sounds together to make an unforgettable debut track.

Produced and co-written by Martin Blockson, “Let’s Make It Beautiful’ is available now, while his full-length album will be released in June of this year.

Score: 8.5/10
