  • 2 min read

A musical group with a passion for rock, blues and jazz in all their forms, Scarlett Siren & The Howlin' Tramps hailing from the heart of Portland, Oregon. Combining stunning melodies with infectious grooves and heavy, evocative beats, they’ve cultivated a sound that is catchy, yet direct, bringing together hard rock edge and soulful jazz sounds.

An expansive musical project, the band have recently released their new EP, ‘Cruel Mistress’, bringing four original songs to the fold. Rolling with a charming, old-fashioned vibe, the songs are a seamless blend of the band’s Burlesque aesthetics and theatrical sound, bringing their audience a unique listening experience.

Hitting hard from the start, the EP begins with ‘Cruel Mistress (Pour Me Another Drink)’, a swinging, narrative-driven song that forms around a timeless, jazz-infused arrangement. Sporting rapid, but colourful vocals and a charming, smoky backdrop. It’s a deft infusion of modern flourishes and timeless character presenting an instantly recognisable vision of what the band and the EP are all about.

With tricks to spare, the rest of the EP is similarly iconic, bringing waves of nostalgic and skilled instrumental breakdowns that build an impressive work of art. Filled with clever production choices that carefully cultivates the band’s unique sound, there’s plenty to keep you enthralled. The final two cuts of ‘One Night Stand’ and ‘Lone Song’ bring an unstoppable emotive force to the final moments of the EP, bringing a more sympathetic manner to the rock-burlesque sound that is simply stunning.

While it might only be a short release, ‘Cruel Mistress’ packs a heavy punch, bringing a timeless sound back into the public consciousness with confidence and unstoppable energy.

The EP is available now on Spotify and Apple Music.
