Sporting rapid, but colourful vocals and a charming, smoky backdrop. It’s a deft infusion of modern flourishes and timeless character presenting an instantly recognisable vision of what the band and the EP are all about.
With tricks to spare, the rest of the EP is similarly iconic, bringing waves of nostalgic and skilled instrumental breakdowns that build an impressive work of art. Filled with clever production choices that carefully cultivates the band’s unique sound, there’s plenty to keep you enthralled. The final two cuts of ‘One Night Stand’ and ‘Lone Song’ bring an unstoppable emotive force to the final moments of the EP, bringing a more sympathetic manner to the rock-burlesque sound that is simply stunning.
While it might only be a short release, ‘Cruel Mistress’ packs a heavy punch, bringing a timeless sound back into the public consciousness with confidence and unstoppable energy.
