Anieszka - 'Human'

In the music of R&B artist Anieszka, there exists a sense of connection to storytelling in its purest form - where her voice takes the listener on a journey into a sonic and artistic realm that is constructed with honesty and a balance of strength and vulnerability at its core.

The Sydney artist has been generating well-justified momentum around her music over the last year and a half, and it’s led her to the release of her EP project, 'Human'. As previewed by the stunning lead single in June, 'Human' speaks to Anieszka’s confidence and grounded nature as both an artist and individual; navigating the world with a perspective rich in authenticity, gratitude and self-awareness.

The EP blends rich R&B influences in with contemporary soul; Anieszka’s presence is bolstered by detailed production that elevates the overall music into a space that fans of artists like SZA, Summer Walker, Kiana Ledé and even Isaiah Rashad would gleefully immerse themselves in. Songs like ‘Bittersweet’ and ‘Senses’ explore moments of sensitivity and openness; with ‘True’, we hear a contrast, with Anieszka’s rich vocals entering a more beat-heavy dancefloor ready space. The EP shows Anieszka’s versatility as an artist, and as a mirror for the human condition, shows how different we all can be.

A focus on healing and acceptance of our self-worth and importance as individuals is prominent throughout the 'Human' project; Anieszka delivers music that is here to soothe and remind us all that we have our place within the world and our value cannot be determined by another.

Anieszka explained, “This EP amalgamates all the different parts of who I am and what has become transparent to me in recent years. I feel like what we’ve gone through as a collective over the past couple of years has had a unique effect on all of us."

"For me, it brought clarity and a confidence to write from an authentic place within me. Each song on this body of work speaks to our many human facets. Whether it is to be more present, be more true, be more forgiving yet conscious of our choices, know we are worthy of love and good things. To voice our fears when we do love someone, to not be afraid to express our sensual selves, to practice gratitude for both our emotions and senses, or to remind us of our humanity - Human is a sonic journey of healing."

"Whilst we all have varying experiences of being alive, I feel this body of work is a moment of interconnectedness, where listeners know they are not alone on their journey.”

The release of singles like ‘True’, ‘Presence’, ‘Choices’ and non-EP tracks ‘Motive’ and ‘Tender Without You’ quickly began turning heads for Anieszka; attracting praise from national (and international radio) including triple j, Triple J Unearthed, FBi Radio, BBC Radio and Rinse FM. Her music has also enjoyed love across Spotify and Apple Music, and with Australian music media including Acclaim Mag, RUSSH, Life Without Andy and more.

Having such a dream team in her corner, helping facilitate her already strong vision, gave Anieszka extra drive to bring this project to life in the lush andwholly cohesive output we hear today. The process took the better part of two years, Anieszka beginning to write during the 2020 lockdown before connecting with Warner and Mateer online.

Anieszka continued, “Some of the ideas I had were brand new like ‘Within’, whilst others like ‘Bittersweet’ I had come up with  years back. In 2021, I continued the writing process and released 3 singles from the EP - ‘Presence’, ‘True’ and ‘Choices’. I also started the writing process with my cousin, Stefan Iyapah, who lives in the UK. We have always had a special musical connection and I knew he needed to be on the EP, which led us to ‘Senses’. The interlude on the EP, ‘Worthy’, was the last piece to this body of work, with Marley Rooney’s exceptional playing."

"As each song came about, I noticed themes of healing, self-acceptance and human connection evolving, which led me to the final single off the EP - ‘Human’, which is also the name of the EP. I am so grateful to the people involved in creating this EP, they all mean a lot to me both on a personal and musical level. I admire their creativity, passion and ability to understand my ideas and vision as an artist. The entire process has been cathartic and I’m really proud of the outcome.“
