Alternative rock trailblazers Astro-Lloyd have unleashed their most experimental project yet, the 'Let's Get Weird' EP, which dropper in May 2024. The four-track collection delivers a sonic adventure, showcasing a unique blend of genres and influences that push the band's boundaries.
'Let's Get Weird' initially started as an offshoot of their upcoming album, 'Loud Noises', but the tracks' distinct character demanded a standalone release. "We're incredibly excited to share this EP with the world," says the band. "Each track tells a story and represents a piece of our journey. They're a bit more 'weird' than our usual stuff, hence the name 'Let's Get Weird.'"
The EP opens with the lead single 'Cowboy', described by the band as "Astro-Lloyd in a punk rock costume." This energetic track sets the stage for the diverse soundscapes to follow. '23.19' dives into prog-rock territory while retaining Astro-Lloyd's signature sound, while 'Dolph' channels a Queens of The Stone Age-inspired stoner/grunge vibe. Rounding out the EP is an alternative electronic reimagining of their older song 'Speedracer', originally featured on their 2017 debut album 'Astro Life'.
Known for their high-energy live shows, Astro-Lloyd draws inspiration from a wide range of musical influences, including Biffy Clyro, Foo Fighters, The Hives, and Royal Republic. Their goal? To create music that makes you forget about the gym and dance like nobody's watching.
