Beyond the Beats, Dhamin Barr Is A 19-Year-Old Music Manager Making Waves

Dhamin Barr isn't your typical music manager. At just 19, he's already navigating the industry with a wisdom beyond his years, steering the careers of artists like Jnr Choi and Elan Morrison. What truly sets him apart though, is his unique approach – a blend of sharp business acumen, an innate understanding of culture, and a genuine passion for his artists' vision.

"I would most definitely say that my age is the biggest misunderstanding and misconception about me," Dhamin admits. "Many think that it diminishes my ability to get things done or that it's a lack of experience." But Dhamin doesn't let these doubts faze him. "I lead by example and let my work do the talking," he explains, proving his capabilities through dedication and results.

Dhamin's journey into music management began during the COVID-19 lockdown. "I have always had a deep love for music ever since a young age," he says. "Over COVID, I really began thinking about what I wanted to do with my future." Combining his love for music with his natural business sense, the path became clear. "Ironically, the career of a music manager just fell into my path," he reflects.

In an industry often obsessed with numbers and trends, Dhamin stands out with his emphasis on cultural relevance and genuine connection. "I definitely feel that the industry in terms of major labels tends to look at streams and numbers and not so much cultural relevance," he observes. "I try to keep a very close ear to the underground scene and who is hot right now." This focus on authenticity extends to his management style. "I only work with an artist or a team I truly believe in and can stand behind 1000%," he states. "I really have to believe and see the vision; it is not about the money or me."

While he may be young, Dhamin already sees himself as a guide for his peers. "This is definitely a hard industry to navigate," he acknowledges. "Whoever I can help guide or remind they're not alone in working through stuff, I am always happy to do that." His collaboration with Elan Morrison has been particularly impactful. "He is an absolute legend in not just music-making but the industry as a whole," Dhamin shares, highlighting the valuable lessons he's learned from the experienced artist.

Looking ahead, Dhamin has ambitious goals. He envisions himself as a label executive, shaping the industry and working with artists who make a cultural impact. "I hope that my legacy will be that I came in as a young ambitious music manager and became to work with some of the greatest artists of all time and put out some of the best music of all time within the time frame of my career," he says.

Dhamin Barr's journey is just beginning, but his dedication, vision, and passion for his artists suggest a bright future ahead. He's not just managing artists; he's shaping the future of music, one beat at a time.
