Blood Red Rose – ‘Hey Dorothy’

Last month, Somerset’s Blood Red Rose completed their dark trilogy, releasing their third studio album in just a few short years. It was a monumental achievement, one that saw the enigmatic and wonderfully nostalgic indie three-piece delivering time and time again, cementing their status as one of the most impressive and prolific independent bands around.

Titled ‘Moving On’, their third album delivers a string of highlights and impressive moments, dishing out nine-heavy tracks that were preceded by a couple of stellar singles. Right from the start, ‘Moving On’ hit with a different tone, shifting away from the more shoegaze and nostalgic indie vibes of their previous records, and it was all thanks to their titanic opening track, ‘Hey Dorothy’.

A triumphant stream of melodic rock, ‘Hey Dorothy’ channelled a fine maelstrom of light blues, tempered grunge, and psychedelic vibes, creating a disarming sound that set the tone perfectly. A bold, leading song, ‘Hey Dorothy’ was an immediate highlight of the record, and so it felt only right to dedicate a special place on our website to it.

You can stream the track below, and don’t forget to check out the full album alongside our official review of the album which was published late last month.

With over 12,000 streams on Spotify alone, it’s clear that ‘Hey Dorothy’ stands as one of the band’s most beloved releases, and it works so well to capture the expansive sound that Blood Red Rose has been refining over the past few years.
