Blood Red Rose – ‘Parasites’

Over the last two years, the Wincanton trio of Blood Red Rose has been simply unstoppable, releasing a string of impressive records and standalone singles that have changed the way we look at the independent alt-rock scene. After first making their mark in the closing months of 2020 with their debut record, the band of Paul, Kim, and Luke have continued to push the boundaries with their dark indie sound, and even now, as we bid farewell to 2021, they’ve released another unmistakable single.

Carving out a legacy of timeless electric guitars, sing-along hooks and stomping drums that all flow with unstoppable, eclectic energy, the band have worked hard to make their mark, and ‘Parasites’ is arguably one of their most relatable and heartfelt pieces to date.

A new cut that sees them delivering a cathartic blend of heavy shoegaze and expansive, textured dream pop, ‘Parasites’ is a twisted ode to the people in your life who just want to bring you down. Speaking openly about the new release on Facebook, frontman Paul explained, “over the years I’ve come across many people that just seem to want to feed off my energy and bring me down so decided I’d write a song about it.”

Available now on Spotify, and as part of our annual Spotify playlists, ‘Parasites’ is a fine maelstrom of light blues, tempered grunge, and psychedelic vibes, creating a disarming sound that set the tone for things to come in 2022.

Following the success of their previous albums, and lead single ‘Hey Dorothy’ which has already earned over 22,000 streams on Spotify alone, the future is looking bright for the Blood Red Rose.
