Broxton returns with his best song yet, progressive indie cut ‘Depth of my Colour’

  • 2 min read

The first single to be taken from Broxton’s highly anticipated new album, ‘Depth of my Colour’ sees the Tasmanian musician partnering with Project Sonic to create his best song yet. Quickly following the release of his sophomore album ‘Patience’, the new single sees Broxton delving into sonically charged indie anthemics, carefully curating a progressive cut that will leave you entranced.

Drawing inspiration from musician Tom Fowkes, Broxton used the new single as a way to experiment with the indie genre, and asked Project Sonic to join him on the song. In humble fashion, Broxton admitted that the song wouldn’t be what it is without Project Sonic, as he shared, “they really brought the track to life” with their progressive sound.

A song that the Kanamaluka/Launceston musician and producer spent months working on, ‘Depth of my Colour’ has been heralded as Broxton’s best song yet, with event he artist himself sharing, “I keep saying to everyone it’s my best yet. I can’t tell if I’m unconsciously trying to manifest it or if it really is true.”

A gorgeous and wonderfully textured glimpse into Broxton’s evolving musical landscape, ‘Depth of my Colour’ has all the elements of a truly brilliant indie track, including heartfelt, emotive vocals, calling choruses, and a gentle, building melody. Depth of my Colour is available now to stream on all streaming services.

Broxton is a Tasmanian producer, writer, engineer, and multi-instrumentalist who has been creating music for nearly a decade. In 2023, he released his acclaimed sophomore album ‘Patience’, stepping away from genres that he had been working on for previous releases and delving into an alternative pop sound. His new single is a further departure from the sounds of his debut record, as he explained, “I don’t like to stick to one genre, because one day I’ll be inspired by some heavy metal and the next day I’ll be listening to jazz piano songs. It doesn’t pay to be stuck in one field, in my opinion.”

‘Depth of my Colour’ is the first single from Broxton’s forthcoming third album, ‘Bloom’. Be sure to follow along on Broxton’s socials for more news about his upcoming releases.
