Michelle Murrell, an alt-country singer-songwriter from the NSW Central Coast, has released a heartfelt new single, 'Home to You'. Co-written with friend and neighbour Audrey Southam during COVID lockdowns, the track was recorded in 2023 at the renowned Chambers Avenue Studio.
'Home to You' is a beautifully crafted country ballad that explores themes of love, resilience, and the comforting journey back to a loved one. Murrell's voice, a unique blend of country-folk twang and 90s grunge influence, is full of raw emotion, and the gentle strum of her acoustic guitar perfectly complements her heartfelt lyrics. The addition of husband James Murrell on the Cajon drum adds a subtle rhythmic layer to the song, creating a sense of intimacy and warmth.
The track also features the legendary Bill Chambers on guitars, Hammond organ, and backing vocals. Chambers' involvement adds a touch of classic country charm to the song, enhancing its emotional depth and resonance. The production, overseen by Bill Chambers himself, is clean and polished, allowing each instrument to shine while maintaining the song's raw emotional core.
'Home to You' is the latest single from Murrell's upcoming debut album, 'Flannel Flowers', due for release in 2025. With its evocative storytelling, heartfelt vocals, and rich instrumental arrangement, 'Home to You' is a must-listen for fans of alt-country and folk music.
