FID – ‘Say What You Want To Hear’

Last month we met lo-fi rapper FID, an enigmatic new talent with a sharp talent for creating wavey beats and bold lyrical hooks. Coming to our attention on the back of his single ’10.09.2004, FID captured a raw, undeniable sound that set him apart from the mainstream, and now, it’s a joy to hear that he’s back with a brand new cut, the sublime ‘Say What You Want To Hear’.

After capitalising on the weight of his debut single ‘Lethal Bliss’ with a string of impressive releases such as ‘Auburn Days’ and ‘Lilac Skies’, it was clear that FID had well and truly made his mark, earning over 10,000 combined streams and an audience of nearly 3,000 monthly listeners. As 2021 came to a merciful end, FID marked the occasion with his biggest and most instantly recognisable single to date, the acid-soaked dream of ’10.09.2004’.

Today, his new single is as engaging and evocative as any of his previous releases, offering new shades of lo-fi sods while also exploring new sonic territories that signal big things for FID in 2022. Available now on all main platforms, and as part of our annual Spotify playlist, ‘Say What You Want To Hear’ draws on FID’s homegrown values and DIY style perfectly.

Speaking of his style, FID was humble as ever, stating on his Spotify profile, “Idk man I kinda just make music I love and have fun doing it. You are all welcome to join me for this journey as well,” and truly, that’s a perfect reflection of his sound.

Check out the new single from FID above, and don’t miss our piece on his previous single, ’10.09.2004’, which we called “a wonderful new release that will have fans of lo-fi rap hooked in moments.”
