Indie-Pop Trio daste. Dive Headfirst into Love with Glistening New Single 'River'

Australian indie-pop trio daste. are back with another shimmering single, 'River', ahead of their highly anticipated album drop in February 2025. This latest release follows a string of captivating tracks like 'Around', 'Colours', 'Atlas', and 'Starwriter', all offering a taste of what's to come from the band's upcoming project.

'River' was born out of a rich collaborative experience in the tranquil hinterlands of New South Wales. Joined by friends Aidan Rahman and Jess Cameron, the band found magic in a spontaneous jam session. "Once we had the first chord progression down," explains Callum MacDonald of daste., "we all sort of sat around the living room and bounced melodies and lyrics around amongst one another until the skeleton of the song was finally formed."

The track explores the duality of love – its exhilarating highs and the daunting vulnerability that comes with opening yourself up to another. "As we bounced melodies and lyrics amongst one another," says MacDonald, "we naturally started to write about the idea of love being so wonderful but so scary all the same. Heartbreak can cause fear of love itself and make it hard for you to open up to anyone or be vulnerable again. This song embraces love and the idea of just jumping into the unknown."

The band later travelled to LA to add the finishing touches to 'River', working with Jim Alxndr to infuse the track with organic sounds, including a beautiful upright piano. The result is a vibrant and uplifting ode to embracing love's uncertainties.

Fresh off the back of a sold-out Australian tour and their first North American headline tour, daste. are showing no signs of slowing down. Aussie fans can catch them live in February supporting Still Woozy on his Australian tour. With their infectious energy and captivating sound, daste. are definitely ones to watch in the coming year.
