K.P. Ring Finds Beauty in Letting Go on New Single 'Some Sunday Morning'

K.P. Ring, the Cork-based songwriter and producer, is back with 'Some Sunday Morning', the second single from his upcoming EP, 'Before I Go'. Known for his introspective lyrics and genre-bending sound, K.P. takes a reflective turn on this new track, exploring themes of mortality and the fleeting nature of life's worries.

Inspired by legendary artists like Paul Brady and John Martyn, 'Some Sunday Morning' showcases a clear evolution in K.P.'s songwriting and production. "I was introduced to some musicians by a friend of mine from Clare called Liam Costello; musicians like Paul Brady and John Martyn – it's inspired by them, at least in terms of the guitar playing,” he shares. “Still, I don't think I even come close, though!"

The track features a rich tapestry of instrumentation, thanks to collaborations with esteemed musicians from Ireland, Portugal, and France. This collaborative spirit marks a new chapter for K.P., who admits to relinquishing some control in the creative process. "I gave up trying to control every note of music in this project. I let go. I invited musicians in to paint – to give some ideas," he explains. "That decision reflects the quality of the music. I am blessed to have some incredible musicians as friends, who just love to play and collaborate. I never thought I'd make music this beautiful in my life, I don't think."

'Some Sunday Morning' follows K.P.'s debut EP, 'All Day Breakfast', which garnered praise from various Irish media outlets. Since then, K.P.'s journey has been one of exploration and growth. He took a break from his solo work, a period that saw him navigating the challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic, grappling with the decision to forgo a scholarship to Berklee School of Music, and immersing himself in the vibrant music scene of Lisbon. He also explored new avenues, drumming and singing for the band Ebben Phlo, writing and recording for established Irish artists, and collaborating with his Berlin-based cousin, Brian Ring.

With 'Some Sunday Morning', K.P. Ring delivers a poignant reflection on life, loss, and the importance of perspective. The single offers a taste of what's to come on 'Before I Go', promising a captivating blend of heartfelt lyrics, intricate arrangements, and K.P.'s signature genre-defying sound.
