Rising out of Los Angeles’ dark indie-pop scene, Luna is a fierce and original talent with a hard rock edge and talent for crafting dynamic retro-pop anthems. Charged with a sense of mysticism, romanticism, and nostalgia, Luna’s sound is classic, innovative, and uniquely her own, creating an iconic style that is perfectly illustrated by her new single, ‘Cruel’.
First appearing as a solo artist in 2017, Luna earned her first big break as a feature vocalist, writing and recording songs for local producers that she met at Producers Social. By the following year, Luna had become a key talent in the platform, taking on the role of Social Media & Brand Manager for the company, and helping to build an innovative music community filled with talented underground artists. Soon after, she hired her management team, Lit.TV Media and solidified her name as one of the hottest emerging pop artists.
Luna’s career really skyrocketed after she met co-writer and producer, Deadfriend in early 2019, with the two artists collaborating on her breakthrough debut single, ‘Boyfriend 4 The Night’, which landed Luna the opportunity to perform her first show as a solo artist at the world-famous Whisky A Go. Since then, Luna has continued to impress fans and critics alike, releasing a string of impressive singles and her debut EP, ‘This Must Be Love’.
For her latest single, the brilliant ‘Cruel’, Luna has taken her dark pop sound to new heights, creating a fiery track filled with themes of toxic relationships, domestic abuse, Stockholm syndrome and falling in love with a psychopath. Inspired by psychological thrillers and romance novels, it’s a track that sees cruel intentions and dangerous affections breaking through a sea of visceral pop tones and dramatic instrumentals.
A gorgeous collaboration with Deadfriend, whose work as a producer and co-writer helped capture the cinematic sound, ‘Cruel’ is a classic femme fatale tale, a tragic love story about a relationship with a toxic lover who, in the end, gets what he deserves.
Speaking openly about the new release, Luna explained, "I wanted this song to feel like a suspenseful lifetime movie. You know, the one about the battered woman getting revenge against her abusive boyfriend and regaining her sense of power."
