Max Blansjaar returns with the second single from his upcoming 'False Comforts' LP

Max Blansjaar may not be a household name yet, but the rising 21-year-old indie-pop is poised to change that with the release of 'Burning In Our Name'. This captivating single is the latest offering from his upcoming debut album 'False Comforts,' produced by the acclaimed Katie Von Schleicher.

Building anticipation for the upcoming album, Blansjaar's previous single 'Anna Madonna' garnered praise from influential outlets like Brooklyn Vegan and earned airplay on BBC 6 Music and BBC Scotland. With strong international blog support, Max even topped the Hype Machine's "Most Posted Artist" charts.

Blansjaar's songwriting is uniquely charming. His witty, narrative-driven lyrics recall the masterful storytelling of acts like The Mountain Goats' John Darnielle or the anti-folk brilliance of Jeffrey Lewis. 'Burning In Our Name' draws listeners in with its intimate acoustic opening, swelling into a lush tapestry of layered guitars and a hauntingly beautiful soundscape.

Speaking about the single, Max shared, "I wrote this song in one sitting — it was a stream-of-consciousness kind of thing. How many times had I turned on the radio and heard about ‘generational challenges’? How does the individual fit into that picture? From the moment we’re born, how many fires have already been started in our name? Politics is personal, and what seem like huge, sprawling issues can affect our lives in small, everyday ways. We recorded most of the song to cassette using a six-track Tascam tape recorder. I left the tape in the studio in Brooklyn by mistake — I’ll go and pick it up one day."

Max Blansjaar's musical journey spans continents. Born in Amsterdam, raised in Oxford. His early rise on the Oxford music scene began in 2018, when the then-15-year-old promoted all-ages shows, performed his sincere lo-fi indie tunes, and released EPs through the Beanie Tapes label.

Collaborating with Katie Von Schleicher and Nate Mendelsohn, Blansjaar transformed his intricate demos into the ten mesmerizing tracks found on 'False Comforts'. The resulting album bridges Blansjaar's roots in Amsterdam and Oxford with the vibrant creative energy of Brooklyn.

Fans eagerly awaiting 'False Comforts' can expect a release packed with Blansjaar's signature wit, sincerity, and a sonic journey that reflects his unique, global perspective.
