Outback Empire's 'Simple Way' Illuminates Winter Nights with '80s-Inspired Pop Rock

As winter descends on the Sunshine Coast, a new sound emerges to brighten the cool nights. Emerging Indigenous artist Paul Fry, under the moniker Outback Empire, has released a captivating new single, 'Simple Way', drawing inspiration from the iconic 80s synth-pop sound of Tears for Fears.

The cover art, featuring a lit lantern, perfectly encapsulates the song's warmth and introspective feel. Fry, a music production student and photographer with roots in the Wik-Mungkan tribe, crafted the song using Garageband, collaborating with talented blues and rock guitarist Andy Met from the Sunshine Coast Blues Club.

In perfect form, 'Simple Way' blends Met's captivating guitar riffs with Fry's production skills, resulting in a nostalgic yet fresh sound. The influence of Tears for Fears is evident in the song's soaring melodies and introspective lyrics, while Fry's unique perspective and production choices give it a distinct flavour. The result is a song that is both familiar and innovative, a testament to Fry's talent and artistic vision.

'Simple Way' is now available on Amrap, promising to be a welcome addition to playlists throughout the winter season. With more music planned for Outback Empire, this is just the beginning of a promising journey for this emerging artist.
