Pretty Uglys - 'Radio Waves'

Following a string of tour dates across Western Australia, Perth surf-rock trio Pretty Uglys have released their latest uplifting track, simply titled ‘Radio Waves’. The follow up to fan favourite ‘Situation City’ and their acclaimed 2021 sophomore EP ‘Party Friends’, the new single celebrates being young with minimum responsibility, with the lyrics highlight life can sometimes be a struggle.

Speaking about the new cut, the band explained, ‘It’s a track written abouts the ups and down of how we all feel at times, symbolized by a radio wave. Sometimes life is a high, sometimes it can be hard to see the end of the tunnel, at the end of the day we all feel it and are in it together, its an uplifting track for us to play.’’

Reuniting with long term collaborators Tristan Sturmer at Perth’s Sumo Studios and mastering done by George Georgiadis at Little Wing Sound, the band created a four minute jam that combines jangly guitar riffs and blissful sincere lyrics with dynamic indie-rock drum work.

In 2021, they released their acclaimed sophomore EP ‘Party Friends’ and played their biggest live shows to date in Western Australia. They have supported Pist Idiots, Ruby Fields, Spacey Jane, Sly Withers and they’ve recently collaborated with Rusty Australia who created and printed their merchandise.

The band further added, "It all started with the chorus melody being played on the guitar, we built on it from there over a couple of sessions until it turned into what it is now".
