Great Gable Embrace Hometown Roots on Sun-Kissed Third Album, 'Small Fry'

West Australian indie-rock quartet Great Gable have announced their third studio album, 'Small Fry', set for release on October 11th via Warner Music Australia. The band has also shared a new single, 'Fine Wine', and announced a 2025 Australian headline tour.

The sun-soaked album, which follows the band's 2023 EP 'Read The Room', was recorded at Perth's Blackbird Studios with producer Dave Parkin. 'Small Fry' is described as a "distinctly home state affair", with lead singer Alex Whiteman drawing inspiration from his experiences growing up in Western Australia.

In a statement, Whiteman said, "A lot of the album reflects on my experiences growing up down south in WA, and those memories play a big part in the music. It’s a mix of emotions, a bit of nostalgia and sentimentality. I think that authenticity is what makes the album special for me.

The new single, 'Fine Wine', is a shimmering indie-rock anthem that showcases the band's knack for crafting catchy melodies and heartfelt lyrics. Guitarist Matt Preen describes the song as being "about perspective and optimism, and reflecting on different points in your life".

'Small Fry' promises to be a diverse and engaging album that captures the essence of Great Gable's sound. From the jangly guitars and driving rhythms of 'Best Friend' to the introspective balladry of 'Asleep', the album showcases the band's versatility and songwriting prowess.

With its warm, inviting sound and honest, relatable lyrics, 'Small Fry' is sure to resonate with fans of Great Gable's previous work, while also attracting new listeners to the band's unique brand of indie-rock. The album is available for pre-order now, and the band's 2025 Australian tour is on sale now.
