inpictures Drop Emotive Summer Anthem ‘Threads’, a Gorgeous Tale of Almost-Love and Missed Connections

Leeds-based alt-pop duo inpictures, the musical brainchild of longtime friends Andy Doonan and Dom Bennison, have just released their self-produced single ‘Threads’, and it’s absolutely gorgeous. The track, built on waves of glistening alt-pop tones, is a dynamic mid-tempo track perfect for summer road trips and late-night conversations.

Throughout its three minute run, ‘Threads’ artfully explores the fragility of human connections, the moments of almost-love, frayed connections, and things left unspoken. Taking shape on an incandescent wave of synth tones, the song builds beautifully, progressing gently through layered harmonies and culminating in a full-bodied, emotionally charged release.

The lyrics, tied to lines like, "and all the threads between, holding us together, keep me hanging on to every word we never said," perfectly capture the nuanced sense of heart and fragility at the song's core. It’s a golden example of the duo’s songwriting abilities, and undeniable proof of why they’ve been lauded by David Bowie's producer Ken Scott as "a breath of fresh air."

With musical influences like The 1975 and Bon Iver, inpictures have honed a unique alt-pop sound that has earned them slots alongside artists like Toploader, The Staves, and Lucy Spraggan. Their music has also graced TV screens, BBC radio waves, and benefited from collaborations with renowned producers Andy Hawkins and Ken Scott.

‘Threads’ marks the first release from inpictures' upcoming five-track EP, offering a stunning glimpse into what we can all expect. Slated for release later this year, it’s a release that promises to be one of the year’s most impressive alt-pop records.
