Just a few days ago marked the release of 'Drowning', a deeply personal and vulnerable new song by The Red Clay Strays. Written by guitarist Drew Nix, the track delves into the depths of mental and emotional struggle, drawing from Nix's own experiences.
"'Drowning' came to me while I was driving for Uber, barely making ends meet," Nix reveals. "The debt was piling up, and it felt like I was treading water just to survive. It's a song about reaching out for help when you feel like you're going under."
'Drowning' is the third single from the band's highly anticipated new album, 'Made by These Moments', set for release on July 26th via RCA Records. Produced by Grammy Award-winning producer Dave Cobb, the album explores themes of faith, love, and redemption, wrapped in the band's signature blend of rock and roll, southern soul, and electric blues.
Leading up to the album's release, the band has also unveiled 'Devil In My Ear' and 'Wanna Be Loved', with the latter garnering praise from Whiskey Riff for its traditional Southern rock sound and Live For Live Music for its "rockabilly falsetto" and "lyrical honesty."
The Red Clay Strays' meteoric rise continues, as they've been nominated for Emerging Act of the Year at the 2024 Americana Music Awards and their single, 'Wondering Why', has soared to the top of the charts. They recently made their late-night television debut on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and are embarking on a nationwide tour that includes a sold-out three-night stint at Nashville's Ryman Auditorium.
Lead singer Brandon Coleman describes the upcoming 'Made by These Moments' as a beacon of hope, saying, "It shines a light on overcoming the battles we face in life like loneliness, depression, and hopelessness. We hope you listen and recognize that our pain has a purpose."
