A Family Affair - Bud Rebel and Myles Weinfeld Talk New Track ‘Waiting’

Bud Rebel, a filmmaker and entrepreneur, has recently embarked on a new creative journey alongside his son, musician Myles Weinfeld. Their first father-son collaboration, the freshly released track ‘Waiting’, sees Bud's creative vision synchronise perfectly with Myles' musical talent. Exploring themes of impatience and connection, ‘Waiting’ marks a significant milestone in their shared creative journey and highlights the deep bond between father and son.

We caught up with Bud and Myles to discuss the inspiration behind the track, their unique collaborative process, and what the future holds for this exciting new partnership.

Great to catch up with you both – the new single is such an intriguing listen. When did you first start making music? Where did it all begin, and what inspired you?

Bud: “I've always wanted to write music but truthfully only pursued this interest a month or so ago. My son inspired me to pursue my artistic talents as maybe I gave him something I never knew I had.”

Myles: “I started making music when I was 15 years old.”

Can you tell us a bit about your new single and what it means to each of you?

Bud: “’Waiting’ tells all our story. For me, it's as simple as waiting for that person in your life to be there when you are already there but for others it can be waiting for that break, medical information etc.”

Myles: “It's a really fun song me and Adam Gloc wrote the instrumental together and the lyrics came to me quickly, it was magical.”

Are there any artists, moments, or experiences that influenced you when writing the release?

Bud: “Alex Sucks is one of the newer artists that has influenced me as well as groups such as My Chemical Romance and Blink-182.”

Myles: “Chris Wiseman (Shadow Intent and Currents) influenced with his production how to write a song seeing his process, it's incredible.”

What was your songwriting process for the release? How did it all come together?

Bud: “I left much to the awesome talents of Myles and Adam as I directed what I wanted the end product to look and feel like. It came together through many discussions and translations from my common language into the music lingo.”

Myles: “So you start off with drums, then you put the bass to it, then piano, then the guitars.”

Is there a central message or theme you were trying to convey in your latest release? Is there a moment in the release that really captures that idea?

Bud: “Waiting is something we have to go through from the mundane to the most serious issues. How many of us were waiting for the election results no matter what side we were on? Yet in the end we have to accept it. The last phrase in the song captures that feel.”

Myles: “Being inpatient but waiting for a good moment to happen is worth the wait.”

What's next after this release? Do you have any new releases or shows on the horizon?

Bud: “Yes, working on a complex song on ‘true relationships’ and the emotions that most go through during this journey. We are producing several music videos for this song and the new song.”

Myles: “No clue, but I'm in two bands right now and I'm waiting to put out new stuff ASAP.”

Is there anything you would like to say to our audience? How can they connect with you and help support you?

Bud: “Waiting sucks but stick through it till the end for the journey is part of the battle! You can find me on my social links and website.”

Myles: “I want to say to everyone, choose kinds over selfishness.”

From the challenges of translating ideas between "common language and music lingo" to the influence of artists like Alex Sucks and My Chemical Romance, Bud and Myles offer a fascinating insight into the creation of ‘Waiting’.
