Drawing inspiration from diverse genres and artists like Grimes, Galactica Tranctica has crafted a sound that is both ethereal and pulsating, transporting listeners to otherworldly realms. With over 26 years of experience in music composition and production, Galactica Tranctica continues to push the boundaries of electronic music.

Now, to help celebrate the release of new single 'Deja Vu', and champion an even bigger upcoming project, Jason made the time to speak with us and answer a few questions.

Fantastic to meet you, Jason. It's been a long while since you first began making music, but where did it all begin?

"I started making music when I was five years old after discovering the piano. I decided that one day I will learn to play the piano, so I practiced every day until I learnt how to play and by the age of 17, I began writing classical music and wrote my first song. As I got older, I decided that I wanted to move away from classical music and began composing dance/electronic music."

Have their been any major influences that haved help define your music over the years?

"I am inspired by the Canadian artist Grimes as I really love the sound of her music. I just love electronic music and love experimenting with various synthesisers creating new sounds."

Your new single has been out for a little while now, can you tell us a bit more about it?

"My latest release is a single called 'Deja Vu' which was released May this year. It is slightly different to the music I normally specialise in, since 'Deja Vu' is an easy listening, lo-fi track which is crafted for listeners who want to relax, or to be played in a coffee shop. [It's for people] who want to experience the serene vibes of lo-fi music with 'Deja Vu', featuring the soulful track 'Deja Vu' itself and the enchanting 'Gosto Cafe', translating to "Love Coffee" in Portuguese. Perfect for those tranquil moments of easy listening, unwinding for sleep, or creating the cozy ambiance of your favorite coffee shop. Let the soothing melodies of 'Deja Vu' transport you to a realm of pure relaxation."

"I will be releasing a new album on the 18th of June called 'Forgotten Forever' which consists of seven tracks. Six of the Seven tracks are trance/psytrance music and one song is an easy listening sad track. 'Forgotten Forever' is about a story at the heart of the village which stands a man whose generosity knows no bounds. He is the embodiment of compassion, offering a helping hand to those in need and spreading joy with his infectious laughter. Yet, despite his selflessness, he remains an outsider — an enigma to those who cannot comprehend his boundless kindness."

"Driven by envy and resentment, the villagers turn against the man they once revered. Accusations fly like arrows, poisoning the air with suspicion and mistrust. With hearts heavy with sorrow, the man watches as the community he cherished condemns him to a fate worse than exile — he is cast out into the wilderness, forgotten by those he once called friends."

How would you describe your sound?

"My music is a captivating journey into the heart of trance/psytrance, masterfully blending fast-paced arpeggiated synths with lush, dreamy pads. The music pulse's with high-energy sequences that weave intricate, hypnotic patterns, driving the momentum with an urgent, almost relentless intensity. These arpeggiated synths are dynamically modulated, creating evolving textures that keep listeners engaged and entranced. Complementing this energetic foundation, Galactica Tranctica's dreamy pads add an expansive, ethereal layer to their soundscapes, taking listeners to an another dimension. Even Galactica Tranctica's new easy listening music has ambient pads and synths with a dreamy piano sound, taking listeners on an adventure into the future."

Can you share a little light on your songwriting process for the new single?

"The project began with brainstorming sessions to establish the mood and theme of 'Deja Vu'. The focused on capturing a sense of nostalgia and introspection, hallmarks of the lo-fi genre, while integrating their unique psychedelic touch. I experimented with softer, more mellow sounds and chose vintage synths and pads, often degraded with tape effects to achieve that warm, crackling lo-fi texture. This involved layering dreamy pads with subtle noise and hiss to create an authentic lo-fi atmosphere. When making the music for 'Artificial World', I experimented with different sounds, whilst creating an arpeggiated sound which will go with the pads, drums and the bass. I wanted to make the sound futuristic, so I tried to use synthesisers which can create that type of sound. The overall song, features arpeggiated synths, dreamy pads along with a trance style drum beat and bass."

What's the most important thing when you're writing a song?

"When I am writing music the main thing that I focus on is creating a melody which is unique and 'catchy'. I think to myself, "is this melody good enough to be on the radio?" if the answer is no then I discard that melody and start fresh. The second most important thing is mixing the music. I like to try and get the music so that every instrument can be heard and that it sounds great."

What’s next for you as an artist?

"I aim to get more listeners and to appear on more radio stations and get my music heard by the millions."
