Get ready for a sonic adventure! Chameleon Lime Whoopiepie (CLWP), the brainchild of the vividly-haired Chi-, has dropped their latest earworm, 'Donkey Song'. This high-octane tune serves as the lead single from their eagerly awaited second album, 'Whoop It Up', slated to land on 25th April. 'Donkey Song' is a proper head-spinner, a chaotic yet catchy blend of psychedelic British rock vibes infused with a seriously danceable '90s groove.
CLWP has also unveiled a quirky music video for 'Donkey Song', helmed by the talented Shosuke Sasaki. Prepare for a surreal quest as Chi- and a gorilla embark on a mission to locate a coveted "treasure banana" across a variety of unexpected locations. Adding another layer to their creative output, the artwork for 'Whoop It Up' is a collaboration with the up-and-coming artist HATO, who previously lent their design skills to CLWP's 2024 single, 'REACH feat. PES'. This collaborative spirit underscores CLWP's commitment to pushing artistic boundaries.
While Chi- is the driving force behind the project, known for her striking orange locks, Chameleon Lime Whoopiepie also includes the enigmatic Whoopies No.1 and Whoopies No.2. Together, this trio not only crafts their distinctive sound but also dives into a range of other creative ventures.
Since their debut single, 'Dear Idiot', in late 2019, CLWP has been steadily building a global following. Their inclusion in Spotify's RADAR: Early Noise 2021 marked them as a rising star. This was followed by impressive performances at Japan's massive Summer Sonic festival in 2022. Their international breakthrough continued with a lauded appearance at SXSW in 2023, where VIBE magazine hailed their set as one of the '10 Best Performances We Saw At SXSW 2023' amongst a huge number of artists.
Even this year, British media outlet CLASH recognised their SXSW shows as one of the 'SXSW 2024: The Best 15 Acts'. With increasing recognition and collaborations flowing in from musicians and producers across various genres and countries, Chameleon Lime Whoopiepie is firmly establishing themselves as a next-generation artist to keep a very close eye on.
