South Summit Drop Soulful New Single 'Catacombs', Announce Debut Album 'The Bliss'

West Australia's rising stars, South Summit, have unveiled their latest single, 'Catacombs' - a soulful, dance-infused track that sets the stage for their eagerly anticipated debut album, 'The Bliss', due out this November.

'Catacombs' is a departure from the band's previous releases, showcasing a deeper, more contagious groove that beckons listeners to the dance floor. Zaya Reuben's confident vocals ride atop a tapestry of synthesized effects, deep bass lines, and groovy guitars, creating an irresistible blend of hip-hop, funk, and dance music.

"In 'Catacombs' we really buckled down on finding the groove," explains Nemo Reuben. "This track was pure from the start, and it's definitely a sound we'd love to keep exploring."

Lyrically, the song explores themes of pain and trauma, using the metaphor of catacombs to represent buried memories. "Catacombs is a track that helped me delve deep within myself, so I hope others can too," says Zaya Reuben.

Produced by Dave Parkin (Spacey Jane) and mastered by Brian Lucey (Post Malone, The Black Keys), 'Catacombs' is the third single from 'The Bliss', following 'Givin' It Up' and 'Ottoway'. The album promises a sonic journey that pushes the band's boundaries while staying true to their roots.

"We mixed up happy and sad vibes, and everything in between," says Josh Trindall. "We like to call this vibe a mixture of everything we're excited about right now, while keeping a hint of our classic South Summit feel."

Fresh off their first European tour with The Cat Empire, South Summit are riding a wave of momentum. The band has become a staple on the Australian live circuit, sharing stages with the likes of Coterie and Beddy Rays, and gracing festivals like Falls Festival and Groovin The Moo. Their engaging music has garnered them acclaim from triple j and Triple J Unearthed, who nominated them as Unearthed Artist Of The Year at the 2023 J Awards.

'Catacombs' is a testament to South Summit's growth and artistic evolution. With its infectious groove and introspective lyrics, the song is a tantalizing glimpse into the sonic landscape of 'The Bliss'. As the band continues to push their boundaries and explore new sonic territories, it's clear that South Summit are poised for even greater heights.
